Halloween and The American Horror Story Election: We Are Caught In The Middle of a Fun Holiday and a Terrible Election

I was going to talk about how my family is divided between Halloween and the election.  I was going to say that Mom & Faith are focused on our party.  Joy is focused on making the best contacts for us and of course I am focused mainly on saving our country from the reality show American Horror Story: Election.  Mom and Faith just walked into the house and guess what? They had a two hour "discussion" with a Trump supporter.  Faith is vowing to not go out again unless absolutely necessary.  For her, running into another Trump supporter would be a real nightmare.  And there you have it, even mom (Glenda the Good) and Faith Hope, who have been the only two fighting to enjoy Halloween got pulled into this horror story today.

We have an election with a p**sy groping hand, claims that the Central Park 5 aren't innocent (even though they are), Putin digging around in American politics, and racism becoming mainstream! It is a nightmare and for a while mom and Faith did their best to keep this election in the far background of their lives.  We are all voting for Clinton.  We all watch the debates.  I unfortunately spend almost every moment online and watching CNN and MSNBC.  Don't get me wrong Halloween is like my favorite holiday.  My ringtone used to be the theme song from the movie Halloween.  I really wish I could relax and enjoy this time but I can't.  I am worried about my beloved country.  We are a proud melting pot with many beautiful holidays and traditions including Halloween.  We are a divided family because we can't agree on how we need to spend our time.  We are all voting but I feel we need to do more than that.  The rest of My Royal Family 4 would like spend more time enjoying this beautiful Fall weather, of course they can't really because the election is everywhere and they are very concerned.

I want to have a good time but the election is literally ruining what would normally be great moments.  When the four of us go out to a bar we hear awful things from these Trump supporters.  When we watch the debates we scream at the TV because of the ridiculous, racist, sexist and just plain wrong things that Trump says.  We are even disagreeing on how to respond to this living nightmare.  I say we vote early and go to a battleground state on election day.  Mom says we should vote and just live our lives.  Mom and I had a major argument.  She raised all of us to be active in defending our rights as women and as black women.  I know that our energy will help get at least one person to vote that may have skipped the polls. I think we should be in a battleground state on election day.  Joy and Faith are remaining neutral.  They both think our energy needs to focus on our businesses but they also want to be part of the festivities election day.

Tomorrow is the last debate.  I had planned to have a party but after the last debate I am afraid.  We will watch but we may not invite people over.  Then again we may.  We throw last minute parties all the time.  The first debate Faith made Korean food.  The second debate we went to Clinton's Louisville, KY headquarters.  Tomorrow we will stay home.  I think the theme should be comfort food.  We need some comfort right now.  I intend to vote this Friday.  I intend to be in a battleground state on Nov. 8, 2016.  I must admit I am tired of it all.  This Saturday Halloween will have my focus. I will try my best to make sure the rest of the 4 feel great and energized.  I will do my best to make this nightmare of an election our best HALLOWEEN EVER!  I don't know how but it starts right after the last debate and I can't wait.  If I get Joy, Mom and Faith really happy maybe they will help me on Nov. 8th. I'm not asking them to work all day, just maybe 2 hours and then we'll explore the city.  Maybe spread some early Holiday cheer.  I added a poll asking what city we should visit, please vote.  It will help me persuade them.

Why I Love Sleepy Hollow And Ichabbie

July, 4th 2016: It has taken me a while to up date this but I couldn't bring myself to look at my hopes for a show that has been ruined by its writers.  They killed my princess.  They killed all hope of redemption for the awful seasons 2 and 3. They have left their fans united in anger!!!  That is all.

Let me make a few things clear first:

1. I, Love Yascone, am a fan of Sleepy Hollow.  The others in this My Royal Family 4 will watch with me but I dare not include them as a fan.  Technically they barely watch TV.  We as a group love animation, anime and Korean Dramas.  We binge watch Korean dramas and Japanese anime for days.

2. The only reason why I watch FOX & FX is for their animated series (Family Guy, Archer & American Dad (Oops American Dad is now on TBS)).  The only live action show I watch with FOX is Sleepy Hollow.  No I don't watch Empire although I think our friends in Korea would love Empire. I watch mostly the SyFy channel and AMC's The Walking Dead but like I said as a family we don't watch American TV that much. Yes, there are shows that we love but we don't wait for the next week's episode.  We usually watch 5 episodes at a time or totally forget about the show for a year or two.

3. If Sleepy Hollow is not renewed there is absolutely no show on FOX that I am looking forward to seeing next fall.  I never watched FOX shows before.  I have not been a loyal fan of a FOX show ever!  I personally watch a lot of TV.  Oddly I read a lot too but I don't wait for the next week to see what happens on a TV show, not even with Game of Thrones or Walking Dead.  I will watch both shows on key must watch days but I don't feel like missing an episode is a problem.  I can always catch up.

It was the year 2013 and my husband was still alive when Sleepy Hollow premiered.  I was looking forward to this show from the summer promos.  It was the perfect campfire/horror/fairytale story from my childhood.  I wanted to see how they were going to make it modern.  I did not know about Nicole Beharie.  I did not know or care about who the leads were.  I cared about the story.  Watching the show for the first time with the rest of the world I received something better than a good story.  I was watching the beginnings of a awesome duo.  Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie became a modern day Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.  They were "dancing" the hell out of this story.  I was happy.  I was even happier that Sleepy Hollow had a female black lead.  For me, Abbie, was my perfect Fairy Princess, one that could kick ass!  Ichabod was the perfect prince "Sleeping Charming" "Sleeping Handsome"lol.  The chemistry between the two actos was not forced.  Watching Sleepy Hollow I saw two characters who knew that they must protect each other.  They were two equals.

Ichabbie, were great at teasing one another without causing pain or real embarrassment.  They built a relationship out of the most extra ordinary situation that can happen in a story.  Two strangers, from two different times (1770's & 2013) must save the world.  They accepted each other for who they were and there was a genuine love between the two.  There is nothing on TV that is like Sleepy Hollow and the relationship between Ichabod and Abbie.  Remember when you were little and you had that favorite bedtime story that you had to read before you fell asleep? Sleepy Hollow for me has become that story.

When I was little I wanted to be the princess who saved the prince.  Abbie does that.  When I was little I wondered would a prince choose me over the "standard" fairytale princess.  Ichabod chose Abbie over his wife and he owned that choice.  Sleepy Hollow is the story I needed as a kid.  It has a great cast and a great storyline.  Yes, some of the episodes have been weak but even so Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie are always on point! The show could benefit from someone who is 50% a Guillermo del Toro  and 50% William Goldman (S. Morgenstern) but the elements are there! I am sick of seeing the absolute worst of humanity on TV.  Ichabbie are great heroes with an even greater love and respect for each other.  They are the couple who can (if FOX allows the show to continue) live happily ever after kicking demon ass.  This show could be the perfect fantasy/romance/scifi and frankly it is the bedtime story for which we have all been waiting.

Party Food So Good You Don’t Want To Share- Halloween Goodness

Okay I have made a jambalaya so good I want to sit in the closet and eat every bit of it by myself.  Unfortunately it is for tomorrow’s party.  We are also having chili and fettuccine Alfredo and all sorts of other fun good food I can’t wait to eat but I tasted my jambalaya and I am in love.  I won’t add the sea food until tomorrow night and it is still OMG good.  Italian Parsley, cilantro, jasmine rice, butter, chicken, chorizo, moonshine sausage…I am in love!  Tomorrow I won’t even remember to take a picture so I am posting now without the shrimp.  Halloween isn’t just candy.  Halloween can be the best fun food you ever had.

Halloween Cute, Scary And Sexy: Throwing A Halloween Party

Head Lantern
Halloween for some is sexy.  Others go for a good scare and/or gore.  While others go for cute and/or fantasy.  In our family we want is all.  We love fantasy and scary mixed in with cute and sexy. Our decorations are a mix of Disney meets Walking Dead.  Our costumes play with innocence and sex appeal.  Halloween is the night to have it all.  Beauty and horror make a great couple.

Last year we skipped Halloween all together.  We were in mourning losing both my husband and my uncle within eight months of each other.  This year we are getting back in the saddle we are putting up the old decorations with the new.  We decided to give our Halloween party which we call our "Witches Brew" a Masquerade New Orleans Rio theme.  With all our planning we have been overwhelmed by work so we are running a little behind.  I know to many people we have all our  decorations up but they have no clue how much more we have to do!

I have planned 3 costume changes for the (My Royal Family 4) but I have only ordered 2 dresses and a mask for each woman so far.  In other words I know what we are wearing when we open and I know what we are wearing when we close but the middle I have know idea.  Mom and Faith have kind of picked their second costume change but I am really in trouble I have no idea what to do for myself and Joy.  I did have an idea for my own costume but that was before I added the 2 group costume changes. They are sort of similar to my original idea so... I am hesitant to stick with my individual costume idea.

Mom and Faith planned the entertainment.  Jazz band in the front and DJ in the back.  I added karaoke as one of the contest.  It will replace the random talent contest we once had.  So we are doing costume, dance and karaoke contest this Saturday.  Since our Halloween party is called "The Witches Brew" we will be having stews and chili and I guess I am making maggot pie.  It seems like we have it all together but we don't.  The next 5 days are going to be a production for sure.  We may even need a new photographer and that is going to be hard with only 5 days until Halloween.  This is only a taste of what we have coming.  I will be adding pics all week and I will post a blog about the finished product in November.  Check out my first Halloween post (this is the 11th annual Witches Brew but I did not blog about my life back then) here Happy Halloween: You Are What You Eat.  You can also check out last months party here Birthday Birthday And Again Birthday Part Deux Or Our September.  Below I am showing only 10% of  what we have going on.

Birthday Birthday And Again Birthday Part Deux Or Our September

Last year we spent the September Birthdays in North Carolina. It was beautiful and sad because not only was it their (Glenda. Joy and Faith's) first birthdays without my husband but our Uncle Pookie passed away just a month before in August.  It was a beautiful and fun birthday but it was not a party.  It was simply the 4 of My Royal Family 4 healing.  The title of this blog is a play off of a 2013 posting (Bryan was still with us) Birthday Birthday And Again Birthday and if you read both postings you will see how far we have come.  This years party celebrations are closer to the real us but not really.  We are trying our best to live the dream and we do this as a family by celebrating each other.

This year we had a dinner party for Mom (Virgo).  We went to Churchill Downs night racing on Faith's (Libra) actual birthday and had a party to end all parties for Faith and our cousin Shawn two days later.  We had a brunch and a dinner for Joy's (Libra) birthday while we worked and partied with the Idea Festival! My diet went to hell on the 26th of September!  I almost want to name this posting Our September because it was busy, fun and full of great food.  This September was the September of the 90's Party, food trucks, parties, great ideas, BILLIONAIRES (although I will not point out who they are), night racing at Churchill Downs, Cincinnati Bengals Pro Football players and just plain living!

Faith's 90's Birthday Party

Sit back and relax.  I am posting pretty pictures and fun videos and maybe just maybe you will get an idea or two.  This is more than just about parties, birthdays and celebrations.  It is about food, love and life.  It is about doing what feels right, like having a food truck! YES, we had a food truck at Faith's 90's birthday party and it was amazing!  It cut down on clean up and the food was so good!
